Buffalo Public Schools Music Renaissance
As a music store owner at Northtown Music and a repair technician working with many school systems, I want to give a brief shoutout to Buffalo Public Schools. Lately, I’ve been repairing a remarkable number of their instruments, and it reflects something bigger.
There’s a real renaissance happening in Buffalo’s music programs. Dedicated veteran teachers and energetic newcomers are working side by side, collaborating not only within the district but also with colleagues in suburban schools. Seeing teachers marching together in the St. Patrick’s Day parade and supporting one another’s projects speaks volumes about the sense of community.
With thoughtful leadership and guidance from the music supervisor, the program feels energized and forward-moving. It’s an exciting time to be a music teacher in Buffalo. And it truly feels like we’ve turned the page past COVID and are hearing the full sound of these programs again.
